Johnny Fartpants

Johnny Fartpants was one of the first characters created in Viz Comic, an adult-oriented Beano-style comic which had its heyday in the UK in the 80's. Johnny was a boy who in true Beano-style had extreme and excessive flatulence which was used to comic device in many embarassing situations. The noise and the smell of his flatulence could create destruction around him and often saved him.

The byline of this comic strip was Johnny Fartpants - There's always a commotion in his underpants. One of his most famous phrases was of course the ever popular "Pull My Finger".

The comic strip allowed the writers of Viz to offer a multitude of synonyms for flatulence and indeed adding a number of new phrases to most schoolboys vocabulary.

Johnny also had a couple of foreign penfriends including his French pen-friend Pierre Pumpytrousers and his German friend Hans Honkyhosen.
