Ninjago is a new Lego theme that was released in early 2011 with sets that are based around a broadly Japanese theme with Ninja Warriors and Spinjitzu Masters and Dragons. Quite a few of the sets contain a spinner that can be used in a specially developed battle game called "Spinjitzu".

This series so far has quite a few sets, plus extra small Spinner sets that you can buy. These are also backed up with books, games, key chains and even watches to really flesh out the Ninjago universe.

The Spinjitzu Starter Set or Spinjitzu Base Set was released in early 2011 and is a great way to start your adventure in the Ninjago world. The set features Jay, the Master of Lightning, and Frakjaw, a deadly Skeleton Army warrior and allows players the ability train and battle inside Master Wu's ancient arena from the Mountains of Impossible Heights. The set includes 2 minifigures, 2 spinners, 6 weapons, 2 character cards and 8 battle cards. In total this set contains 57 pieces.

You can build the Spinjitzu Arena, pick your character and play the cards to influence the outcome. You must be the last ninja standing, and glory as well as your enemy's weapon is yours for the taking. With the six different weapons, which includes two golden weapons, you can play specific battle cards. Each of the eight cards features tricks that will either boost your attack or foil your opponent's. You arm your character, choose your card, and spin to become the master of Spinjitzu.

The Ninja Ambush Set was released in early 2011 and features a bamboo catapault which can open up for the Ninja to jump through and a golden scythe. The set includes 2 minifigures of Ninja Kai and skeleton Bonezai and 3 weapons. In total this set contains 71 pieces.

You can ambush the evil skeleton soldier, Bonesai and protect the golden scythe. As part of his training to become the Spinjitzu Master of Fire, ninja Kai has been sent into the bamboo forest by Sensei Wu to protect the Golden Scythe.

The Skull Motorbike Set was released in early 2011 and features a Skull Motorbike with nunchucks of lightning. The set includes 2 minifigures of ninja Zane and skeleton Chopov and 3 weapons, the nunchucks of Lightning, a black sword and a bone axe. In total this set contains 157 pieces.

The Skull Motorbike lets you test your Spinjitzu skills on the road. Chopov is driving back to the Underworld with the Nunchucks of Lightning, but ninja Zane, a Master of Lightning, won't let him get far. Zane has his trusty black sword for his battle against Chopov as he tries to dodge the motorbike's flames and unseat the dangerous skeleton. With flames blazing from the motorbike's tailpipes, you can make your escape or activate the bike's ninja swat attack and launch your opponent back to the Underworld.

The Ice Dragon Attack Set was released in early 2011 and features a large white Dragon with a cannon mounted in its mouth.. The set includes 2 minifigures of ninja Zane and skeleton Krazi and 2 weapons plus and ice ball. In total this set contains 158 pieces.

The Ice Dragon can rotate his neck to take aim and shoot icy balls to freeze Krazi in his tracks. The dragon has an easy loading system which allows you to quickly repeat fire if under attack. The ice dragon's legs, tail, and massive wings all fold and bend, so he can lie in wait and fly open when the time is right.

The Turbo Shredder Set was released in early 2011 and features a large tank, the Turbo Shredder, with two front treads, and two giant black wheels. It also has a skull in the front. The set includes 3 minifigures of ninjas Jay and Cole and skeleton Frakjaw and 3 weapons, a golden scythe, a silver sword and a brown spear . In total this set contains 223 pieces.

The Turbo Shredder has a massive, detailed engine and shooting exhaust flames. Its primary weapon is its deadly jaws that move up and down to snag and swallow enemies of Garmadon. The Shredder has large tracks that can mow down anything and everything in its path. Frakjaw has stolen the golden scythe for his master, Lord Garmadon, and is riding away on his Shredder to the Underworld. Jay and Cole need to use their skills to attack Frakjaw and reclaim the ancient weapon.

The Spinjitzu Dojo Set was released in early 2011 and features the training centre for the Ninjas, an Oriental-style building with opening doors, falling axes, spinning katanas and flick missile spears. The set includes 3 minifigures of ninja Zane, Sensei Wu and skeleton General Nuckel and 4 weapons, a spinner, 1 character card and 4 battle cards. In total this set contains 373 pieces.

The Ninjago Spinjitzu Dojo places you on the Mountains of Impossible Heights at the Monastery of Spinjitzu. The dojo provides everything your ninja will need to master the art of Spinjitzu. You'll encounter exploding floorboards, moving doors, and even a snake pit. You must leap between the falling axes and dodge the shooting spears as you move through the dojo. Zane and Sensei Wu must fight to keep the Shurikens of Ice safe from General Nuckal. Use Sensei Wu's white spinner, or help Zane navigate the dojo obstacles to reach the Shurikens first.

The Garmadon's Dark Fortress Set was released in early 2011 and features a fortress with a brown drawbridge which is armed with flick-fire missiles. It also includes a small flying machine, which doubles as a throne. The set includes 6 minifigures ninjas Kai and Nya and skeletons Garmadon, Samukai, Bonezai, and Chopov and 5 weapons. In total this set contains 518 pieces.

Samukai of the Skeleton Army has taken three of the golden weapons back to Garmadon's lair in the Underworld. These weapons are now deep in the dark fortress guarded by Bonezai, Chopov, and Lord Garmadon himself. Kai and Nya must use their Spinjitzu skills to infiltrate the deadly Dark Fortress and get them back, dodging ejecting spiders, missiles, and spinning towers in order to reclaim the ancient weaponry.
