The Lego NBA Collector Sets was a limited collectable range produced by Lego in 2003. The sets were released in groups of 3 NBA players and came complete with not only a Lego minifigure in the team basketball kit but also a collectable trading card with all the players statistics on. These collectable cards are stamped with the Lego Sport logo but are actually made by Upper Deck. These sets are not only great collector items but great gifts for NBA fans.

All in all there were 8 sets of 3 players released covering all the major NBA franchises but the series only lasted for one season and hence these sets are very desirable and collectible.All the players have a “spring-back” body, which means there are springs inside the mini figures that allow them to snap back into the upright position so that you can shoot for a basket.

The Lego NBA Collector Sets were part of the wider Lego Basketball range which was part of the Lego Sports Range. Kids and Adults were equally transfixed by translating the exciting world of Hoops to the tabletop, this theme was also well served with various items from the Technics range to add realism and good gameplay to the series. You could replicate the real match atmosphere with Stadium, players and training kits.

This was the first set released and included minifigures of Tim Duncan, Ray Allen & Pau Gasol. All told there were 10 pieces and 3 minifigures in this set.

Tim Duncan comes in a sharp white San Antonio Spurs uniform. Ray Allen's is a real collectors piece at it shows Allen in his Milwaukee Bucks uniform before he was traded to the Seattle Supersonics for the 2002 – 2003 season. Pau Gasol comes in his dark green Memphis Grizzlies uniform.

This set featured the minifigures of Shaquille O'Neal, Tony Parker and Antoine Walker and again contained 10 pieces and the 3 minifigures.

Shaq's figure is of course bald and his LA Lakers yellow uniform is bright and has a small amount of stenciled detail to it. Tony Parker appears in the black and silver uniform of the San Antonio Spurs and comes complete with his infamous five o’clock shadow. Antoine Walker comes in his green Boston Celtics uniform.

This set featured the minifigures of Vince Carter, Gary Payton and Dirk Nowitzki and this time contained 11 pieces and the 3 minifigures.

Vince Carter comes in his Toronto Raptors uniform with burgundy trim. Gary Payton is in his old green and gold Seattle Supersonic outfit before he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Dirk Nowitzki comes in his Dallas Mavericks kit plus he has a special blond hairpiece.

This set featured the minifigures of Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, Toni Kukoc and again contained 10 pieces and the 3 minifigures.

One of the biggest draws to this set is getting Kobe Bryant, he comes in the LA Lakers bright yellow home uniform. Jason Kidd is shown in the New Jersey Nets road uniform of blue and silver. Toni Kukoc however looks the best in his Milwaukee Bucks light purple and gray kit.
